Day One, Thursday, September 10, 2026
10:00 Arrive at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, 5242 S. State Hwy. ZZ, Republic, MO,
south of Springfield, MO. Approximately 3 hours from Independence—180 miles.
Meet at the Visitors Center. We will watch the Visitors Center film and take a tour of the museum which includes the
former Sweeney Museum holdings. Gift Shop available. Around noon we will adjourn to the picnic area near the
Visitors Center. We will order box lunches in advance. A cooler with bottled water will be available.
Starting at about 12:45 pm, Connie Langum will take us on a driving tour. We will take our own cars and follow
Connie to different spots to get out and hear her narrative.
We will end around 4pm so everyone can retire to their own motel to rest and freshen up for dinner. We will choose a
medium-priced restaurant for everyone who wants to eat dinner together. Everyone pays for their own meal.
Day Two, Friday September 11, 2026
9:00 Meet at the Springfield National Cemetery. Connie will provide a tour. We will carpool as much as possible because
of the narrow roads.
Our final stop will be the Battle of Springfield. Connie will interpret the markers. The tour will end around noon.
Everyone can then head home.

Please make your own lodging arrangements. Some people are staying at the Sleep Inn at 233 E. Camino Alto Drive in Springfield, MO. The price for two people with 2 King Size Beds is $136.16 as a sample (phone 866 994-9096 or google the Sleep Inn and book a room online with a credit card.) If a person wants the option of cancelling later if their plans change, the price might be a little higher. This motel has a free breakfast.
No entrance fee for Wilson’s Creek. Connie is not asking for an honorarium from our Round Table, but we will pay for her lunch and give her gas money.
Please be prepared with sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, etc.

The William Clarke Quantrill Society will hold an annual tour October 3rd, 10 am-4pm

There is limited seating for this tour. As of 7-31-26 it is not yet decided if a school bus will be rented or if attendees will car caravan for the tour. Stay tuned.
After the tour, members will adjourn to the Zarda Bar-B- Q at 214 N 7Hwy, Blue Springs, MO at 5pm for annual meeting with meal being paid for individually.
